A HOUSING trust that builds homes for ex-forces personnel has been given millions of pounds to expand its accommodation, including in Edinburgh.

The Haig Housing Trust, which provides accommodation for former servicemen and women, is to receive £8.6 million to expand ­provision in London and the Scottish capital. The money means it will be able to help a further 416 veterans and their families every year,

Erskine care homes in Scotland is also to receive £550,000 to help improve the quality of the living environment for residents and meet lighting guidelines for veterans with dementia.

They are beneficiaries of the latest £20m tranche of punishments for manipulating the Libor rate to be diverted to good causes, as announced by Prime Minister David Cameron.
