Crofters on Skye have backed plans for a £55 million, 14-turbine wind farm to be built in partnership with the community.
The Glen Ullinish Wind Farm on Government-owned land between Ose and Struan at Allt Dughaill will be able to generate 42MW, enough electricity to supply 23,000 homes per year.
Developer Kilmac Construction has now submitted a planning application to Highland Council. It is being described as a significant investment opportunity, with contracts worth £5m set where possible to be placed with local firms, ranging from electrical and civil engineering companies to fencers and hoteliers.
A £250,000 per year fund is to be distributed among the closest communities to the wind farm to support a number of local initiatives if the project goes ahead.
The Isle of Skye and Highland Council will also receive £6.25m every year of the wind farm's existence.
Crofter Angus Beaton said he was pleased. He added: "Putting the project together has not been easy and we are delighted that the application has now been submitted. We are looking forward to seeing the wind farm and the benefits it will bring to the community."
