Man due in court over death of Glasgow man whose body was found near Celtic Park in 1994
A MAN is due in court today in connection with the death of a man in Glasgow more than 20 years ago.
Police Scotland and the Police Service of Northern Ireland officers detained a a 39-year-old man in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, yesterday.
Derek Sheerin, 24, was found in the East End of Glasgow, near to Celtic Park, in 1994.
The 39-year-old is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court later today.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We can confirm a 39-year-old man was detained in Northern Ireland yesterday morning in connection with the homicide of Derek Sheerin in Glasgow on September 26 1994.
"He has been arrested and is currently detained in police custody."
