Two men have been arrested following an alleged robbery in a shop during which two women were assaulted.

The incident happened at a store in Bowmont Street, Kelso, in the Borders at about 9am on Monday.

One of the women was taken to Borders General Hospital as a precaution.

Two men, aged 53 and 36, have been arrested and charged following the robbery.

Police said they are continuing inquiries to trace a third man in connection with the incident.
