SCOTS actor David Tennant's comeback as Doctor Who has been unveiled for the first time.

He is returning in three new audio dramas rather than on television.

The much-loved 10th Doctor has been joined by comic actress Catherine Tate, who once again plays companion Donna Noble.

Now an audio clip reveals for the first time the Tennant and Tate comeback that all Doctor Who fans are talking about.

The Herald:

Lifted from Jenny T. Colgan's Doctor Who: Time Reaver, the clip finds Donna making some careful wardrobe choices – right in the middle of the TARDIS's latest crash landing!

The reunion of Tennant and Tate comes seven years after their on-screen partnership ended.

All three Tenth Doctor releases will be available together as part of Doctor Who – The Tenth Doctor Adventures Volume 1 Limited Edition.

Limited to just 5,000 copies and available exclusively from the Big Finish website, the lavish book-sized box set includes artwork, photography, articles and a one-hour documentary on the making of the three stories, featuring interviews with the stars and production team.

The clip is taken from the second instalment Time Reaver, which is set on a mechanical planet with a black market economy and a dark secret.

The first episode is called Technophobia, set in near-future London. According to the synopsis, mankind is gradually losing its ability to use everyday technology.

The Herald:

The final recording will be Death And The Queen and it will see Donna fall in love on a planet called Goritania, but the Doctor has misgivings.

According to audience figures, Tennant's stint as Doctor Who has produced the most popular episodes with British viewers in the last 35 years.

Christmas 2007 special Voyage Of The Damned, which co-starred pop princess Kylie Minogue, was watched by 13.31 million. It was the second highest audience for any programme during 2007.
