An Islamic State (IS) militant suspected of involvement in a deadly bombing in Lebanon has been killed in a joint operation by Hezbollah and Syrian security agents.

Abdul-Salam Hendawi, also known as Abu Abdo, died in an ambush in an IS-held area in Syria's central province of Homs, AL-Manar TV said.

It said Hendawi was responsible for bringing into Lebanon two suicide bombers who carried out the attack in southern Beirut on November 12. The attack killed 43 people and wounded more than 200.

It is not clear when the ambush on Hendawi took place.

It has been reported his main job was to transport suicide attackers from the northern Syrian city of Raqqa into Lebanon.
