Andy Murray has sparked a row on Twitter after backing his mum Judy's controversial plans for a tennis and golf centre in Dunblane.

Judy Murray plans to build a multi-million tennis and golf centre at Park of Keir have faced fierce opposition from local residents.

A decision on the proposals, which are also backed by Colin Montgomerie, will be made at a planning meeting today, however, officials at Stirling Council have recommended that the planning application be refused.

Wimbledon champion Murray tweeted his support for the project yesterday.

His comment sparked a row on Twitter, with Anne Verden-Anderson claiming the development is 'just a in way for housing developers'.

However, Judy Murray hit back at the claim.

Last week it was revealed that ex-Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson had given his backing to the project in a letter to the council's Provost.Â
