HE may be just six years away from receiving a congratulatory 100th birthday message from his wife, the Queen, but the Duke of Edinburgh still has what it takes when it comes to fashion.
The men's style bible GQ has revealed that the 94-year-old Duke occupies 12th position on its Best-Dressed Men list for 2016.
And the Queen's consort may revel in the fact that he is also viewed as being more stylish than his 31-year-old grandson, Prince Harry, who can be found further down the list, at number 38.
It is not the first time the Duke has been voted onto the Best Dressed list. He took 26th place in the 2014 list, when the magazine observed that he "deserves yet another medal - for his services to classic British tailoring".
It comes as the Duke of Cambridge admitted at the weekend that fatherhood has made him cry far more often.
Speaking to Ant and Dec with his brother, Prince Harry, beside him, William said of the changes fatherhood had brought: "I'm a lot more emotional than I used to be, weirdly. Just because you realise how precious life is and it puts it all in perspective. The idea of not being around to see your children grow up and stuff like that."
The 2016 GQ list is topped by actor Eddie Redmayne, followed closely by X Factor judge and BBC Radio 1 presenter Nick Grimshaw, singer Sam Smith and David Beckham. The latter's 13-year-old son, Romeo, is in at number eight, his profile and fashion-sense having been sharpened by his modelling career for brands such as Burberry.
One Direction singer Harry Styles, actor Benedict Cumberbatch and model David Gandy also make the top 10. The full list appears in GQ's February edition.
There was, however, bad news for the Great British Bake Off's Paul Hollywood, who was awarded pole position on the top 10 worst-dressed men list. That list also includes comedian Josh Widdicombe, The Only Way is Essex's Jake Hall, and Top Gear host Chris Evans.
The best and worst dressed lists are voted for by GQ staff and a panel of experts including fashion designer Giorgio Armani, Alexander McQueen's creative director Sarah Burton, designer Tom Ford, model Lara Stone and fashion designer Vivienne Westwood - and Nick Grimshaw.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
