Controversial plans to build 90 flats on North Kelvin meadow have been given the go-ahead.

Despite an motion for rejection being submitted by planning committee member and SNP councillor Phil Greene, a majority of councillors today voted to approve the plans.

The committee will now consider the second application submitted by the Children's Wood, and if both applications are granted, the council's executive committee will need to consider what further action will be taken on the site.

Scottish ministers have called for the New City Vision application to be sent to them for further scrutiny in the event it is approved, which will now happen following the approval.
