A plane on its way to Aberdeen has been forced to divert to Manchester after declaring an emergency.

The Flybe flight BE326 was en route from Birmingham when it was forced to change course due to a suspected technical fault.

The aircraft went on to land safely in Manchester.

A Flybe spokeswoman said: "Flybe can confirm that the above flight diverted to Manchester as a precautionary measure following a suspected technical fault with the aircraft.

"The aircraft landed safely without incident and taxied to stand as normal.

"The safety of its passengers and crew is the airline’s number one priority and the airline apologises for any inconvenience experienced."
