LABOUR MP Jimmy Wray’s will was faked, claims his widow.

The former MP for the Glasgow district of Baillieston died three years ago and left his entire £500,000 estate to his three grown-up children from his first marriage.

However his wife Laura, who is the mother of the late MP’s severely disabled son Frankie, has lodged an action at the court of session disputing the will in a bid to win a share for her son.

Mrs Wray, an advocate, argues that her husband had had a stroke and was not in a fit stage of mind when the will was made in 2008.

In her writ, Mrs Wray adds that the will is invalid because one of the 10 clauses is missing and was not witnessed in a lawyer’s office. She maintains the will has been assembled from more than one document and that a separate document setting up a trust for Frankie Wray has been destroyed.

Mrs Wray, who lives in a converted farmhouse near Aberfoyle, Stirlingshire, said; “In the years before his death Jimmy told me and others regularly he would set up a trust for Frankie so he would want for nothing. He told me it was his intention to ensure that each of his children of his first marriage each received a sum of around £30,000 on his death. However, after his death, no details of the trust for Frankie were found.”

Mrs Wray was separated from her husband at the time of the death but says they remained good friends. She also accuses her step-children of selling off valuables from Mr Wray’s jewellery and antique business, including a gold Rolex watch.

The MP and Laura Wray married in 1999 at the Palace of Westminster. At the time of his death in May 2013 from bowel cancer, Mr Wray owned three flats and a jeweller’s shop in Aberfoyle. He also owned a £700,000 property in the south of France which did not form part of his will.

Mr Wray’s son James Wray jnr said; “The matter is the subject of a court action and the court will decide the merits of the case in due course.”
