JK Rowling has announced plans to release a special edition of the script for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child parts one and two later this year.

Print and digital editions of the script will be published simultaneously after its world premiere in London's West End on July 30. The publication will include a script of the play and the time of its preview performances.

It will then be replaced by a Definitive Collector's Edition of the script following the world premiere. Pottermore has confirmed it will provide updates on the Definitive Collector's Edition as it learns more.

The new sequel, which is based on an original story by JK Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, opens for previews several weeks before its official world premiere.

It stars Jamie Parker as the famous wizard in the play alongside Noma Dumezweni  and Paul Thornley as Hermione and Ron.

A statement on Pottermore said: "Interest in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child from Wizarding World fandom has been massive, and now Potter fans across the globe will be able to join Harry, Ron and Hermione on the next stage of their journey."

Next year is shaping up to be a momentous one for Harry Potter fans, with the publication of four special editions of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone planned to mark the twelfth anniversary of the UK publication of the book.

New editions of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, with new content from JK Rowling, Quiditch Through the Ages and The Tales of Beedle the Bard are also planned for 2017.

Pottermore has also revealed that a Jim Kay illustrated version of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets will be released in October 2016.
