A PASSENGER has been banned from a budget airline for life after allegedly disrupting a flight to Glasgow.

The 37-year-old man was seized by police on Sunday March 6, after getting off the Jet2.com flight from Gran Canaria.

He was allegedly being disruptive throughout the entire flight and is the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal.

The incident comes in the same week another man was fined £400 and given a one year ban after being threatening and abusive on a flight to Alicante.

Scott Savage, from Glasgow, had been part of a stag party who were aggressive towards cabin crew on the flight on April 17 2015.

The man was detained by police in Alicante and refused on his flight home.

Phil Ward, managing director of Jet2.com, said: "Disruptive passenger behaviour is an ongoing issue that needs tackling for the good of the vast majority of all customers, as well as my crew and colleagues.

"We are working closely with airlines, airports, trade associations and other industry partners to create a consistent and robust response to this issue.

"We are also actively consulting with government bodies and MPs to make them aware of the problem.”

"Our Onboard Together initiative commits us to a zero tolerance approach to anti-social behaviour on our flights.

"Our customers look forward to an enjoyable flight experience with us and we will not let a disruptive few spoil this.

"We will take whatever action necessary to stamp it out and I thank Police Scotland for its continued support in pursuing this action.

"Passengers should be in no doubt that the consequences of abusive and unruly behaviour onboard aircraft do lead to custodial and financial penalties."

Since the airline launched the Onboard Together scheme more than 460 passengers have been refused travel due to disruptive behaviour and 57 of these have been given lifetime bans.
