BILLIONAIRE Donald Trump has snubbed Scotland’s flag-makers – by importing his giant Saltire from the US. 

The enormous Cross of St Andrew sits atop an 80-foot flag pole at the Ailsa Course, at the heart of Trump Turnberry’s £200 million renovation project.

But when the Ayrshire resort opens to great fanfare on Friday, few of the invited guests will realise that the fluttering 30 foot by 25 foot national emblem was manufactured across the Atlantic.

One insider said: “It is true. There is only one company which makes all of the flags for all of Mr Trump’s golf resorts.

The flag was one of three which were delivered to the hotel in a bag brought over from America by the flag-maker.”

It is just one of the many over-the-top accessories which now adorn the hotel transformed by Mr Trump’s empire at Turnberry.

The 1,000 Swarovski crystal “Ivanka” chandelier – named after his daughter – is seven feet long and six feet wide. Now adorning the hotel’s grand staircase, it took six months to make.
