Labour’s new shadow defence secretary wants to scrap Trident.

Clive Lewis, the MP for Norwich South, was appointed in a reshuffle after a shadow cabinet walkout.

The left-wing MP, who only entered Parliament last year, wrote an article for the New Statesman magazine in 2013 entitled 'Why Labour should make the case against Trident renewal'.

Last year he said that renewing the UK's nuclear deterrent on the Clyde would be a “monumental mistake”.

Mr Lewis was one of 36 Labour MPs to nominate Jeremy Corbyn for the Labour leadership.
