BHS staff danced their way out of the business as stores across the UK closed at the weekend.

Twenty of the department stores opened for business for the final time on Saturday, affecting 580 staff, and a further 30 shops will shut on July 30, impacting another 700 employees.

Staff inside the Stirling branch linked arms and swung each other around as they performed Scottish country dancing accompanied by a bagpiper.

Workers young and old took part as the solo piper kept the beat.

Onlookers applauded with broad smiles on their faces, and background signs reading "Everything must go" and "Store closing" were the only indication that the convivial atmosphere was a farewell occasion.

Peter Stewart posted the video to the Team BHS Facebook page, which has nearly 7,000 members.

He captioned it: "#Team146‬ Stirling - Resilient to the end, Good luck to all who closed their doors this weekend #TeamBHS‬."

Meanwhile, staff in the Peterborough store counted down loudly and cheered as the shop's shutters were lowered for the final time.

Andrew Dixon, who shared the video, said a staff member of more than 30 years closed the shutters, adding he was "so proud" to be part of the team.

In Truro, BHS employees posed outside the store with their glasses raised in the air.

Chris Philcox, who shared the photo, wrote: "Team Truro! Last day yesterday - dignified, professional and brilliant to the end."

Other staff whose stores are due to close posted similarly encouraging messages.

Chantalle Duncan, a staff member at the Portsmouth store which is due to close at the end of July, said: "I actually have the best team ever.

"They are dedicated, positive, professional and unbelievably loyal. I am so proud to work with them all and call them my family."

More than 11,000 employees are set to lose their jobs after the high street chain collapsed into administration in April.

BHS had 164 stores prior to its collapse. Staff across the remaining stores will be formally notified later on Monday that their jobs are going into redundancy consultation, with all stores to be closed by August 20.
