AT first glance you might think these are posh children out on the beach with their nannies. But the ladies who are clearly not dressed for a day at the seaside are Sisters from Nazareth House on Glasgow's Paisley Road West which ran a children's home. The little ones are pictured at Fairlie beach, three miles south of Largs during a Glasgow Fair Fortnight.

The tide is out and the little ones have buckets and spades to dig out anything interesting they might find. Good to see that they all have sun hats on, even in Scotland.

Nazareth House, run by Catholic Sisters, opened over 100 years ago. It no longer runs a children's home but just a couple of months ago opened a new care home, still in Cardonald, which looks after 70 pensioners.
