REVELLERS heading into Glasgow’s Merchant City to enjoy the delights of the annual festival will be able to enjoy some contemporary dance duets next weekend.

Janis Claxton Dance is bringing 4 pop up performances to Merchant City Festival on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 August - 1.30pm and 4pm each day.

She is drawing on her signature trademark of bringing high quality dance to public spaces in her latest work POP-UP Duets (fragments of love).

These are in advance of her performing at National Museum of Scotland during the Fringe (4-28 August) and the show is part of the prestigious curated Made in Scotland showcase.

There are 9 duets in total, each lasting 5 minutes, and Claxton has joined forces with the award-winning composer, Pippa Murphy and four world-class dancers - James Southward, Christina Liddell, Carlos J Martinez and Adrienne O’ Leary. The 2015 Scottish Album of the Year Award winner Kathryn Joseph sings on some of the tracks.

POP-UP Duets explore the interface of everyday gesture and action and detailed intricate partner dancing.

The Merchant City Festival starts today, Saturday and runs to Sunday 7th August.
