A landslide caused by continued rain has resulted in the closure of the A897 at Kildonan.

The road surface has been partially washed away on the road from Helmsdade to Thurso and will be closed for the foreseeable future.

This has also resulted in problems on the railway line and Police Scotland are advising members of the public to use any alternative routes, which avoid the area.

ScotRail posted a message on their official Twitter account informing passengers of the disruption.

Police Scotland, The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, British Transport Police and Network Rail are all working closely with transport partners and will issue further updates when the roadway is reopened.
