Family have paid tribute to a father-of-two who died in a crash with a lorry on his way to work in Aberdeenshire.

Ben Abrahams, 32, had been driving a Toyota Yaris that collided with an articulated lorry on the B979 Westhill to Peterculter road near Mason Lodge at 8.30am on Thursday.

The driver of the lorry was not injured.

Mr Abrahams, from Torphins, worked as a petroleum engineer for Schlumberger and had two boys with wife Kate.

A family statement released through Police Scotland said: "Ben had worked as a petroleum engineer for Schlumberger for the past five years.

"He lived in Torphins with his wife and two young sons. He is loved and respected, and will be sadly missed by all his friends and family."

The death was one of five on Scotland's roads in less than 24 hours.
