A Flybe plane bound for Biirmingham was forced to return to Edinburgh Airport after a loud noise was heard during the flight.

Flybe flight BE852 departed Edinburgh at 5.15pm en route to Birmingham International when a loud noise was heard onboard.

As a precautionary measure, the 78-seater plane turned around at Peebles and landed safely at Edinburgh Airport at 6.22pm.

Ground staff are reportedly carrying out technical and safety checks on the aircraft.
