Edinburgh's Festival Fringe has issued nearly 2.5m tickets in the last month, a rise of 7.7% on last year.

By Monday afternoon, with 100s of performances to take place, an estimated 2,475, 143 tickets had been issued at the Fringe.

This marks a 7.7% increased compared to this time last year.

Last year the Fringe Society announced record breaking figures following the 2015 Fringe with an estimated 2,298,090 tickets issued for shows across Scotland’s capital.
Edinburgh's International Festival has sold more than £4m in ticket sales for the first time this year.
Audiences to the festival (EIF), which closes with its annual fireworks concert, are estimated to be more than 440,000.
Overall audiences are 12% up on last year.
More than 2,400 world-class artists from 36 nations  came together in a Festival which has registered a "record year" for classical music ticket sales, with the Queen's Hall series in particular marking a high point in ticket sales.
Ticket sales income reached £4.2m, the festival says.
