POLICE have confirmed they are examining footage of Rangers fans trashing the Celtic Park toilets in the wake of the Old Firm derby.

The force believe that the video of the Parkhead vandalism, unlike another that had circulated around Twitter in the immediate aftermath, was taken on Saturday.

The Herald:

Police has previously confirmed it is also  investigating the hanging of two plastic effigies with hands tied behind their backs in the manner of an execution from the upper tier of the Jock Stein Stand.

The hanging blow up dolls adorned with Rangers scarves could be seen at the start of the live TV coverage of the match as the players took to the pitch.

The Herald:

Rival fans have disputed the significance of the stunt with some suggesting it was making reference to Rangers FC liquidation in 2012, but others emphasised that it coincided with World Suicide Prevention Day.

The toilets clip posted on Facebook by the Scottish Football Away Fans group, shows fans entering the away end bathrooms and smashing up toilet cubicles and tearing down parts of the ceiling.

As the toilets are being wrecked, the chant, "Parkhead's going down" can be heard, while some clap.

The Herald:

Those in the toilets are heard chanting the Billy Boys song and "... while attacking the toilets.

At one stage a section of the roof falls down on those within to the sound of, "Way hay".

One fan is heard to shout: "Glasgow Celtic, fenian b*******".

A police spokesman said: "The video will form part of our ongoing inquiries From what we understand the video is from Saturday and it is getting looked at."

It was not the first time Parkhead toilets have been vandalised.

Separate video footage circulated around Twitter, purported to be related to Saturday's events, was actually uploaded four years ago, and related to a separate incident.

In May, 2012, a Rangers fan was arrested in connection with vandalism of toilets at Celtic Park.

It came after 17 were made in and around Celtic Park during the game, which the SPL champions won 3-0.

Saturday's scenes had been described as "hugely disappointing" by senior officers who had previously reported that only one football fan had been arrested during the game in which Celtic defeated Rangers 5-1.
