WHEN you have a bunch of entertainers of course you have them kicking a leg in the air - it's one of the immutable laws of press photography. Here we have Scottish stars of the stage publicising a special gala night at Glasgow's Pavilion Theatre in August, 1992, to help raise funds to repair the theatre after flooding left owners with a £750,000 refurbishment bill.

So have you worked out the left to right? First there is folk singer and banjoist Alastair McDonald, still singing and strumming in his seventies. Who knew banjo playing was so healthy? Then Iain McColl, who presumably was doing a Tommy Cooper impersonation. Iain, who was in the comedy series City Lights, died of cancer three years ago.

Next is Andy Cameron, radio, stage, Top of the Pops and Ibrox entertainer who still keeps readers of the Herald Diary amused, usually with tales of growing up in Ru'glen. Then Lanarkshire singer Christian. Fortunately I recalled his real name is Chris McClure as Googling Christian, as you might imagine, throws up an awful lot of other stories before we reach one of the few showbiz fans of Motherwell FC. He still performs at the Pavilion if my memory of the posters outside the theatre as I walk to work is correct.

Next is a great showbiz couple, the late Jack Milroy and his wife Mary Lee. Jack and Mary were a singing and comedy duo until Jack went on to be a household name with his comedy double act with Rikki Fulton of Francie and Josie. Then the late Ben Gunn, Dean Park, still a regular at the Pavilion panto, and finally the late Eric Cullen, Wee Burney in Rab C Nesbitt, whose life was immersed in sadness as he was abused as a youngster.
