A pedestrian who died after being hit by a car on the outskirts of Edinburgh has been named by police.
Alan McBain, 60, was hit by a blue Mini between the B800 and Standingstane Road near Dalmeny on Monday.
His 58-year-old wife was seriously injured in the collision and she remains in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
Constable Denise Humphrey said: "Our sincere condolences go to Alan's family and friends at this very sad time.
"We are still keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or who has information that can assist us with our investigation.
"Anyone who hasn't so far contacted us is asked to call 101 to speak to a road policing officer."
Police Scotland have also named a 25-year-old man who died in a road accident in Angus.
Christopher Gallacher, from Dundee, died when his Vauxhall Astra car was involved in a collision with a Scania lorry on the A90 near Gallowfauld, Tealing, on Wednesday.
Police said reports into both accidents would be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
