PEDRO Caixinha last night remained non-committal over Kenny Miller's future despite the striker scoring two goals in the space of as many minutes as Rangers defeated Aberdeen 3-0.

The 37-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the 2016/17 season, broke the deadlock in the Ladbrokes Premiership match at Pittodrie with a sensational volley in the 79th minute.

The former Scotland internationalist added a second just a minute later to help the Ibrox club collect an important three points.

They are now six points ahead of St. Johnstone, their main rivals for a Europa League place, in the league table with six games remaining.

But asked whether the brace against the second-placed side in Scotland had increased Miller's chances of getting an extension to his current deal, Caixinha refused to be drawn.

“Maybe I’m going to make a new contract extension to Wes (Foderingham) for him making a brilliant save when the game was 0-0," he said. "It is football, it is about the team and we showed today we were a team.

“We were facing a strong side and it’s important we have players who can decide games at both goals. It’s always important. But one thing don’t lead to the other.

“I am making my assessment and I will tell you when I think is the right time to tell you, whether Kenny is going to continue or not. First of all he is the one who needs to know from me."

Meanwhile, Caixinha confirmed that Jonatan Johannson, the former Rangers and Finland striker, would join his coaching staff.
