AMAZON Academy is coming to Scotland to help small and medium sized enterprises who are seeking growth in the global digital marketplace.

The event sees the internet giant team up with Enterprise Nation to provide practical advice for businesses who want to set up and grow their business online, and add to the £1.8 billion which was exported by UK businesses through the Amazon Marketplace last year.

Registration for the free event opens today and it will take place on May 23 at the EICC.

The one-day event features keynote presentations and workshops to help business owners learn how to boost their revenue and productivity, grow their exports, and maximise on cutting-edge technology like cloud computing and voice services for the benefit of their business.

Attendees will also learn how to use the internet and technology to boost their revenue and productivity, and grow their exports with workshops covering Amazon’s suite of services. These include selling through Amazon Marketplace and reaching new customers with Alexa, the group’s game-changing cloud-based voice service.

Amazon noted that thousands of local businesses in Scotland already use its suite of services to open up export markets. The service offers support with currency exchange, local translations and global delivery and distribution.

“Scotland has a long history of invention, and today that heritage is on full display as a new generation of small businesses are using internet technologies to fuel Scotland’s fast growing digital economy,” said Doug Gurr, UK country manager, Amazon. “There are big opportunities for Scottish SMEs to grow through e-commerce and exports, and we look forward to bringing together established and aspiring small businesses to discuss how to maximise their success.”
