Top film bosses are looking for Scots to take up paid extra roles in a major feature-length film being shot in Scotland.

Casting agencies Key Casting and We Got POP Ltd have announced they are on the hunt for aspiring actors north of the border to take part in the story of king Robert the Bruce.

Open auditions are being held in Glasgow this weekend.

The film, Outlaw King, is set to star Hollywood favourite Chris Pine as the king and X-Men star Ben Foster as adviser James Douglas, reports Deadline.

It will also be directed by Scotsman David Mackenzie known for the Oscar-nominated Hell or High Water, released last year.

A poster for the casting call describes the movie as “a true David v Goliath story of how the great 14th century Scottish king Robert the Bruce used cunning and bravery to defeat and repel the occupying English army.”

Hundreds of hopefuls are expected to head to Glasgow Club Kelvin Hall in Argyle Street for the castings.

Open auditions are being held on Friday, July 14 from 1pm to 9.30pm, and again on Saturday, July 15 from 9am to 4.30pm.

Applicants have to be aged 16 or over and must be able to prove they have the legal right to work in the UK.

Actors should take a suitable form of ID along - as proof of age and right to work in the UK - during the listed times.

Although not essential, the advert has stated there will be “bonus points” for bearded actors.

Bosses have also asked those heading along to wear neutral colours, highlighting that a black or grey T-shirt or vest is ideal. They ask that actors do not wear white.
