BUS ROUTES are to be scrapped, changed and replaced as part of a transport overhaul.

Passengers can expect to see more than 20 services affected by the latest shake-up from First Bus Glasgow. The changes will be implemented from August 20.

Amongst the several changes the number 15 service from Summerston to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital will be withdrawn and replaced by a revised number 8 bus route.

This will see the number 8 extended from Partick to the hospital and rerouted to serve the Summerston area. More scheduled changes will see the 10 service and the 57/57A revised which will see a new service, the number 87, brought in.

The new service will operate between Buchanan Bus Station and Westerhill which replaces the northern section of the service 10 route which will continue between Silverburn and the city centre. The X85 and X87 service from Kirkintilloch to Glasgow will also be increased.

Andrew Jarvis, the managing director of First Glasgow said: “We keep our services under constant review to ensure we can best meet the needs of customers.

“Our express services were introduced to provide customers with faster connections to the city and we’re delighted to be announcing improvements to those services. We are also introducing other changes which we believe will enable us to improve reliability and respond to customer demand.”

Timetable changes will also be made to services 3, 4/4A, X4, 18, 57A, 81, 88/88A/88C, 89/89A/89B and 90, 201,227, 229, 241, 254, 255, 263, 267.
