Former Apprentice star Sharon McAllister has been cleared on appeal after she was jailed for contempt of court.

McAllister, who was the first Scot to appear on the show in 2006, ws sentenced to three months in 2015 after repeatedly failing to follow a court order.

Her lawyer was later rapped for falsifying a key document in the case, and Sharon, 42, has now had the finding of contempt of court quashed.

She believes the stress of being wrongfully imprisoned led to her father's death last year.

She appeared at Perth Sheriff Court in a legal battle with her former partner. She strongly denied the allegations against her and was imprisoned at Cornton Vale Prison for contempt of court.

She spent three months in the prison on the outskirts of Stirling.

Ms McAllister said: "People like me get caught up in a system that's broken. "Everyone wanted to make an example of me because I'd been on television and the system is in pieces."

She added: "It's so hard to get your life back. "No one stopped to think that this wasn't right."
