CONCERN is growing for a man who has been missing for two months without his medication.
Police officers in Irvine are issuing a further appeal for assistance in tracing Gordon Wilson, who is missing from his home in the town.
The 47-year-old was last seen at around 9am on Sunday, July 2, within a ward in Woodview Hospital, Kilwinning Road, Irvine when he left to go for a walk, but he did not return.
He is described as white, 5ft 8 inches in height and of slim build with thinning shoulder length greying hair.
When he was last seen, he was wearing blue jeans, a blue hooded jumper and grey trainers with white soles.
Constable Scott McDade, from Irvine Police Office, said: “Eight weeks have now passed since Gordon was last seen and despite extensive enquiries and searches we have yet to obtain any information on his whereabouts, and police are extremely concerned for him.
“Although he has been missing before, it has never been for this length of time. He is also without his prescribed medication.
“He is known to travel throughout Scotland either hitch-hiking or on foot, heading as far as the highlands, and in the past he has slept rough when he is out on his walks.
“I would urge anyone who has seen Gordon or who has any information regarding his whereabouts to contact Irvine Police Station through 101, quoting reference number 1847 of 2nd July.”
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
