Is Ian Lakin seriously suggesting Westminster didn’t waste North Sea oil wealth (Seeking the truth about Scotland’s economy, Letters, August 27)? He makes an equally absurd point when he says “support for independence will continue to haemorrhage”. The most recent opinion poll I saw showed there has been almost no overall movement either way. Hardly a haemorrhaging of support for independence. Once the impending disaster of Brexit becomes clear, I am confident that the swing from No to Yes will be substantial.
