G1 GROUP, the Glasgow-based leisure group, has boosted its portfolio with the acquisition of 12 pubs from Stars Pubs and Bars, the pub division of brewing giant Heineken.
The pubs, whose names and locations have not been disclosed, were acquired as part of a tranche of 29 outlets which G1 has acquired in partnership with Admiral Taverns. The other 17, which are based in England and Wales, will ultimately be taken over by Admiral Taverns. Admiral, which has 845 outlets, is itself is currently the subject of a takeover bid by Proprium Capital Partners and C&C Group.
The outlets came on to the market because of competition concerns arising from Heineken’s purchase of nearly 2,000 Punch Taverns pubs.
