EX-GERS owner Sir David Murray has split from his wife Kae Tinto after seven years of marriage.

The 66-year-old wed the photographer at a private ceremony at his Dunbarney estate in Perthshire in 2011.

The Scottish Sun report that a spokesman for Sir David insisted the couple remained “firm friends”.

He said: “It is with deep regret and sadness that Sir David Murray and Kae Tinto Murray announce that they have separated.

“They recognise that they are at different stages of their lives and have different interests going forward. They will remain firm friends.”

Former showjumping champion Kae, 46, who has degrees from both Aberdeen and Glasgow universities was a lawyer before becoming a photographer. She has twin daughters from a previous marriage.

They agreed to marry during a trip to Sir David’s former home in Jersey in the Channel Islands in 2006. She was also at the tycoon’s side when he was knighted by the Queen in 2007.

Sir David sold Rangers to Craig Whyte for £1 in 2011 after owning the Ibrox club for 22 years.
