Trains between Aberdeen and the Central Belt have restarted after a fire at Stonehaven station suspended rush-hour services. 

The fire broke out just before 4pm but it is not yet known what the extent of the damage is. 

Services between Aberdeen and Edinburgh as well as Aberdeen and Glasgow Queen Street were affected by the disruption. 

 

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We received a call to Stonehaven station at 3.44pm and we have two appliances on the scene.

"One appliance from Stonehaven and one appliance from Altens in Aberdeen is in attendance at the fire."

Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
