Fabio Silva gave Rangers the shot in the arm they badly needed yesterday to spark their comeback victory over Kilmarnock.

But it was THAT celebration after his goal that sparked a considerable amount of backlash from Gers supporters amid the 4-1 win.

The Portuguese forward, on loan from Wolves, appeared to gesture for people to keep talking amid criticism of his performances since his January move to Glasgow.

The 21-year-old also pointed to his name on the back of his shirt after he sneaked in past Lewis Mayo at the back post to prod home beyond Will Dennis to make the score 1-1 going into half-time.

Plenty of Rangers fans were left unhappy with the way he celebrated the finish, with some labelling it 'embarassing'.

However, it has now emerged that Silva was not having a go at his own team's fans.

Football Scotland claims that he was taking aim at his critics, and not supporters during the aftermath of his fifth goal in a Light Blues jersey.

A source close to the player told the outlet: "Fabio is very professional and would never do anything against the club he represents.

"That movement of the shirt is: 'I'm here. Talk a lot, but I'm here.'"

It's unclear at this time what the future holds for Silva, who is set to return to Premier League club Wolves this summer upon the expiry of his loan deal.

He once cost them £35m from Portuguese giants Porto, but his career has stuttered since that mega-money switch.
