An Oxfam worker has pleaded not guilty to defrauding £62,857 from the charity.

Edward McKenzie-Green, 34, who was head of counter fraud and loss prevention at the aid charity, also denied stealing a laptop from Oxfam on December 1 2011.

He denied the two charges at the Old Bailey alongside his father, Edward Green, 61, of Cumbernauld, who pleaded not guilty to a charge of transferring criminal property.

Between April 1 2011 and March 31 2012 Green is alleged to have transferred £35,571.75 from and between his bank account and then into a Santander bank account in the name of Edward McKenzie-Green.

The first offence McKenzie-Green is charged with is that between February 1 2011 and December 1, 2011 he dishonestly and intentionally to make a gain for himself, abused his position as an employee of Oxfam by causing payments in the sum of £62,857.58 to be made to fictitious companies.

McKenzie-Green, Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, and Green, of Cumbernauld, Glasgow, were both bailed.
