A FORMER soldier broke down and cried when he was caught red-handed with cocaine with a potential value of £614,000.

The High Court in Glasgow heard that Allan Deans, 28, who was working as a security guard, was stopped after police saw him apparently using his mobile phone as he drove in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, on September 12, 2011.

When police discovered he had no insurance they told him they were going to take his car to Hamilton police station and he asked if he could remove some items from it. On being told he could not do this he broke down.

In court Deans, of Glasgow, admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine in Cadzow Street, Hamilton, London and elsewhere.

He also pleaded guilty to having no insurance.

Judge Lord Bracadale deferred sentence on Deans until September at the High Court in Edinburgh.
