SCOTLAND Under-21 striker Islam Feruz is due to stand trial next month on dangerous driving charges.

The former Celtic player appeared yesterday at Glasgow's Justice of the Peace Court for a pre-trial hearing.

He allegedly drove at excessive speed in Glasgow, repeatedly braked sharply at pedestrian crossings, repeatedly accelerated, and drove on the opposite carriageway at a bend in the road in a BMW 3-series.

Feruz, 18, who now plays for Chelsea, also faces a charge of driving with only a provisional licence and without 'L' plates or a qualified driver and with no insurance, last December 30.

He denies the charges.
