A LAWYER has been warned he may go to jail after a judge ruled that he breached a court order meant to stop him working as a solicitor.

John O'Donnell,63, did not obey the terms of an interdict granted at the Court of Session in Edinburgh in November 2009, which was supposed to bar the Glasgow-based solicitor from working on legal cases for five years.

O'Donnell had been found guilty by the Scottish Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal of professional misconduct for a third time, but rather than carry out minor work, O'Donnell continued to work as a lawyer.

In a written judgement issued on Wednesday at the Court of Session, judge Lord Stewart found that O'Donnell had impersonated a solicitor called Colin Davidson and in one legal action had given an advocate the impression he was allowed to act as a solicitor.
