SIX people have been arrested after six major drugs raids in Shetland.

Police officers, including the Organised Crime and Counter Terrorism Unit, targeted six addresses in the Lerwick area after receiving intelligence about the availability of drugs there.

Detectives said that six people had been charged in connection with drug supply offences and are expected to appear at Lerwick Sheriff Court.

Detective Superintendent Phil Chapman, who leads OCCTU North, said: "No community in Scotland which is immune from the potential reach of organised crime. But there is also no community in Scotland which is out of our reach.

"We will make our communities hostile environments for criminals."

OCCTU was introduced as part of the Specialist Crime Division of Police Scotland.
