Taxi driver is jailed for rape of teenager

A TAXI driver who took a schoolgirl to a flat in his cab to rape her has been jailed.

Mohammed Ashraf had asked to take the 14-year-old into Edinburgh to buy her something. She thought they were going shopping but Ashraf, 53, took her to an empty flat and molested her.

Advocate depute David Taylor told the High Court in Edinburgh: "She told him to stop and tried to push his hands away but he was too strong."

Mr Taylor said Ashraf, 53, from Netherbank, Edinburgh, ignored the girl's protests, pushed her down and lay on top of her.

Mr Taylor said: "She could not get him off."

She later told her sister her attacker had "made me do things". A 999 call was made to police. Ashraf admitted assaulting and orally raping the teen on November 16, 2012.

He was held in custody. Sentencing will take place in June.
