Woman jailed for 'rage' murder

A woman has been ordered to spend at least 12-and-a-half years in prison after murdering a former neighbour "in a blind rage".

Danielle Watson, 30, admitted murdering Edward Bennett, 49, at her flat in Crowlin Crescent, Glasgow on November 6 or 7 last year.

She repeatedly punched and kicked him, stamped on his head and body, put cushions over his face, put a scarf round his neck and tightened it. She applied pressure to his eyes, put a hand over his mouth and forced sponges or scourers into his throat. Sentencing her at the High Court in Edinburgh, judge Lord Turnbull highlighted her: "most unfortunate background."
