THE Scottish Government has given approval for the merger of Anniesland, Cardonald and Langside colleges, which will create a new college for south and west Glasgow, expected to be called Glasgow Clyde College.

The merger is in response to Government reform of post-16 education. Education Secretary Michael Russell praised the colleges for their hard work.
