Network education partner ECITB explains why a career in engineering is one to consider...

Engineering construction is at the heart of the UK's revolution in providing the energy solutions needed to combat climate change.  It is an industry that has responsibility for the design, project management, installation, testing, operating and maintenance of the essential infrastructure used for sustainable and renewable energy to thrive.  Over the next five years the industry needs 42,500 skilled people to power it.

It's down to you, the next generation of engineering construction engineers to help deliver. The future is in your hands.

An ECITB Apprenticeship lasting three of four years in the direct career route into the engineering construction industry.  It combines off-the-job learning with practical experience that will give you the lifelong experience and skills for a successful career.

Most engineering construction work is about specific skills. At the heart of the industry are 'disciplines' like welding, pipefitting, plating, steel erecting, electrical and mechanical work, instrument maintenance, material testing, design & draughting and project control.

An ECITB apprenticeship will:

·         Train you in skill specifically needed by the industry.

·         Educate you whilst still earning money.

·         Gain a national vocational qualification recognised by industry employers.

·         Qualify you to continue into higher education to study a degree and then onto chartered status.

·         Set you off on an exciting and well paid career.
