SUPPORT for measures to cut carbon would rise if people heard more about the solutions to climate change.

But most of those questioned in a poll say people are less likely to take action to tackle climate change because they are unsure of the effect it will have.

The survey for climate campaign group 10:10 said 68 per cent felt people would be more likely to back measures to cut emissions if they knew more about solutions.

It coincides with 10:10's annual showcase of efforts to tackle climate change, including a low carbon lifeboat station in Cornwall and an Aberdeenshire hair salon using 87% less energy after an eco-overhaul. 10:10 said: "It's vital we promote a sense of possibility about climate change action, and an understanding of the risks."
