EMELI Sande was all smiles at the 59th Ivor Novello Awards in London last night despite later missing out a gong.

The singer, who won two gongs last year, was nominated for the PRS Most Performed Word award for her song Clown. But she lost out to Passenger for the single Let Her Go. Specials songwriter Jerry Dammers was named a music industry inspiration three decades after his song, Nelson Mandela, called for the release of the anti-apartheid campaigner.
