NEARLY seven out of ten people living near the proposed new site of T in the Park support the festival's move.

Public consultations have been taking place this week in the communities surrounding Strathallan Castle, the proposed site for Scotland's largest music festival.

The festival has been forced to find a new home over fears a major gas pipeline beneath the former site at Balado, Kinross-shire, could rupture.

Planning permission is needed for the organisers' chosen site at the Strathallan Estate, near Auchterarder.

DF Concerts (DFC), who manage the festival, lodged a pre-application plan with the Perth and Kinross Council last month after the Scottish Government insisted they had to, and a full planning application will be submitted towards the end of the year.

At Auchterarder Community Church Centre and the Strathearn Community Campus in Crieff, members of the public were able to have their say on the controversial proposal.

As well as being able to speak to DFC about how the traffic bringing in tens of thousands of festival-goers would be managed, residents were able to talk to representatives of Police Scotland and the emergency services.
