Baton interruption

A man yesterday attempted to grab the Queen's Commonwealth Games baton as it was carried through Kilmarnock in East Ayrshire.

Ian Paton, 18, was walking with the baton when a man ran out and tried to grab it. He was chased by police and later led away by officers.

The East Ayrshire leg of the Queen's Baton Relay saw it pass through towns and villages including Auchinleck and Galston, and visit the children's ward at Crosshouse Hospital.
