HOMOCIDE detectives have launched an investigation into claims by two of BB King's daughters that the blues legend was poisoned.

The development came less than two weeks after the blues legend died in his sleep from two small strokes. It was claimed at the time these were caused by the Type 2 Diabetes he suffered.

Karen Williams and Patty King, two of the guitar legend's daughters have now accused the star's business manager, LaVerne Toney, and his personal assistant, Myron Johnson, of killing their father at home in Las Vegas.

The allegations were laid out in legal documents presented to a news agency yesterday (MON) by the women who are embroiled in a legal dispute with the aides.

Lt Ray Steiber of the city's police said homicide detectives are investigating the allegation.

It came as a coroner said the results of a post-mortem examination performed on King's body are expected to take up to eight weeks.

The guitar legend's daughters have been embroiled in a bitter legal dispute with their late father's aides.

Ms Williams and Ms King lost a legal bid to prove their father was being abused shortly before his death on May 14. This allowed Ms Toney, who had acted for BB King for many years, to keep control of his affairs.

It had been alleged Ms Toney stole money and neglected their father's medical needs and barred them from visiting him at home where he was receiving full-time care.

"We lost the battle, but we haven't lost the war," Ms Williams said at the time.

Ms Toney and Mr Johnson declined to comment.
